Ventilation Management

BEACON Caresystem

BEACON is an ICU ventilation assist system. BEACON will provide ICU clinicians with on-demand ventilator-dependant open-loop advice for ventilating patients in line with clinical practise guidelines and recommendations.

BEACON uses inputs measured by BEACON, data inputs from the ventilator and manual data entry by the clinician into a computerprogramme that has been designed to assist clinical decisions for changes to the ventilator settings for the individual patient.

The objective of the BEACON Caresystem is to present on-demand advice for ventilator adjustment and the rationale behind the advice, in a clear and easy-to-use graphical format

Clinical challenge

The key to reducing ICU costs is to ensure the patient can be removed
from mechanical ventilation sooner, i.e. minimize the Length of Stay in the ICU.
